New Year’s Eve 2018 events in the Lehigh Valley
Can you believe 2018 is almost entirely in the rearview mirror? Is it just us, or does every year seem to fly right by these days? At any rate, 2019 is fast approaching, and the big finale to 2018 is just about here. Whether you want to relax by the fire and watch the “Twilight Zone” marathon, spend the night playing games with the family, or venture out to a party, there is certainly no shortage of things to do on New Year’s Eve. If you want to head out and mix things up a bit, we have a few suggestions for New Year’s Eve 2018 events in the Lehigh Valley which may be of interest.
If you want to celebrate the new year but have children who need to go to bed earlier than the big 2019 switchover at midnight, then the Kids’ New Year’s Eve Party at Fegley’s Brew Works might be just the ticket. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the establishment’s High Gravity Lounge, kids can watch movies and listen to music and drink some tasty cider while chowing down on selections from the Kids’ Menu. “Midnight” is at 4:30 p.m.!
Another New Year’s Eve kid-friendly event takes place at Crayola Experience in Easton from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Live music from downtown Easton’s School of Rock, carnival games, arts and crafts, and a faux “midnight” countdown will be available. Discounted tickets can be purchased online ahead of time.
What would New Year’s Eve be around here without PEEPSFEST? Yes, the annual two-day celebration (December 30th and 31st from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) of all things PEEPS is at SteelStacks in Bethlehem once again. Enjoy live music with kid-friendly bands, clowns and, of course, the traditional giant 400-pound PEEPS Chick descending at 5:15 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to usher in 2019!
Also at SteelStacks, albeit later on in the evening, is a performance from a venue favorite, the Sofa Kings! You can enjoy dinner at 8:30 p.m. followed by the show at 9:30 p.m. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the band while they cover your favorite tunes, and ring in 2019 with pizzazz! Tickets are $15-$20 in advance or $20-$25 the day of the show.
Head on over to downtown Allentown for the annual New Year’s Eve Celebration at 7th and Hamilton Streets. The fun begins at 10 p.m. and lasts until the big changeover to 2019 at midnight. Enjoy live music from the Groove Merchants and wander throughout the downtown area to find specials and events at downtown establishments. The best part? The event is free and open to the public!
Whatever you choose to do this New Year’s Eve, we hope you have a wonderful and safe time. From all of us at J.D. Byrider, happy New Year! Here’s to a great 2019!
